What is Alpha?
Alpha is a chance to explore and question the meaning of life. Over a series of about 10 sessions, you’ll find out about the basics of the Christian faith. Each session involves a main talk and some time to say what you think. It’s fun, relaxed and free, and you can ask anything you like (that’s why over 25 million people worldwide have already tried Alpha).
Alpha is for ANYBODY: Are you wondering if there is more to life than what you’ve experienced? Do you know Christ but want to know Him better? Do you need a ‘shot in the arm’ in regards to your relationship with Christ? Are you new to the Church? Are you searching for answers?
At Alpha, enjoy great food, laughter and learning about the teachings of Jesus in a welcoming atmosphere.
Be our guest as you explore questions about the existence of God and Jesus, the purpose of life, the value of prayer, what happens after death and more.
What are people saying?
“Alpha is a way to explore what we hunger after – meaning, intimacy, and relationship – in a very non-pressured, nonjudgmental environment. My wife, Shara, and I did Alpha together a few years ago, and it really helped us in our lives. Over the years, I’ve seen Alpha touch so many people. Alpha is easy. It’s loads of fun and very low-pressure. It’s a chance to ask some of the big questions and try to find some of those big answers. I always say to friends, “What have you got to lose, and what have you got to gain? I think ultimately that’s what it comes down to. There’s everything to gain from doing Alpha.”
– Bear Grylls,
Host of NBC’s Get Out Alive, Man Vs. Wild, and Born Survivor, Voted 38th most influential man in America
“Alpha is the most marvelous tool for evangelization. Alpha serves to bring faith alive and to me that is the most important thing in the world, because if a person’s faith and belief in Jesus becomes ‘real’ as opposed to ‘notional’ then you see the whole of life differently.”
– Thomas McMahon, Roman Catholic Bishop of Brentwood
“We want to evangelize but we don’t seem to have found quite the right method. I think that the Alpha course offers easily the best method so far invented. I think Alpha is very successful because it answers the questions that people are asking today. It is user-friendly. It is not a confrontational course. It is presented in everyday language. It is compelling, but no one is pressured. Above all, it enables us to come to know the Lord Jesus.”
– Ambrose Griffiths, Roman Catholic Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle
