Our Requirements
Church law requires that before a Sacrament is administered, the priest must have proof of Baptism. MOQ requires proper proof before a child is able to celebrate the sacraments.
Church law requires that before a child receives the Sacrament of Eucharist the child must have reached the age of reason…at least 8 years of age.
There should be at least three months separation between the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist.
Classes for young people who have not been baptized or who have been baptized, but who have not received some of the sacraments are available. Students who are new to the religious education program and who have not attended religious education classes during the previous year must meet with the Director of Religious Education and may be required to participate in a class which assists them in becoming current with their present grade level.
It is our policy that students preparing for celebrations of sacraments must be in a religious education program or Catholic school for an appropriate time before reception of the sacraments. Students attending for the first time are required to submit a letter from their previous parish to confirm their attendance. Attendance at a Catholic school fulfills this requirement; however, regarding Confirmation, all students who wish to be confirmed must attend immediate preparation classes and fulfill any requirements that are a part of that preparation.
