Steubenville Youth Conference!

Steubenville pre-registration is here!

Steubenville is for any current 8th-12th grade youth (anyone entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2018 -OR- who will be a Class of 2018 High School Graduate.)

“In this way, the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him.” 1 John 4:9

We live in a world where there are voices shouting at us from all sides, trying to tell us who we are and who we aren’t, who we should be and who we shouldn’t be. If we pay too much attention to these voices, it won’t be long before we forget our true identity altogether.

But amidst all the noise is our loving Father, who wants to make Himself known to us and speak the truth about who we are. God’s love is deeper and His plan for our lives is greater than anything the world has to offer – will we allow Him to reveal it to us?

This summer, over 50,000 Catholic teens across North America will participate in 25 Steubenville Youth Conferences, and we want you to be one of them! Come experience the love of God in a new and more profound way. He has so much in store for you.

We have 2 great options this summer!  You can go with the archdiocese in July or join the Youth Ministry team in June to have a mini-mission trip also included with the conference.

The pre-registration forms are below.  Please fill them out and return them to Jordan at the Parish Office by the dates listed on each form. Registration happens for the Denver trip beginning January 16 and February 1st for the Archdiocese trip.

Denver pre-registration form = June 19-24

Archdiocese pre-registration form = July 13-15

FAITH is the heart of Just5Days. Our theme this summer is inspired by the scripture passage 1 Corinthians 12:27   “Now, you are the Body of Christ!” and the Catholic social teaching principle of solidarity.

SERVICE during Just5Days places youth in direct, hands-on work that meets real needs of the local community.

PRAYER begins and ends each day of Just5Days.

COMMUNITY within Just5Days is fostered through age-appropriate activities, group discussions, and simulation games.

CATHOLIC is who we are!  Just5Days promotes the principles of our Catholic faith, Sacred Scriptures, teachings of Pope Francis, and other holy men and women who have heard the call to follow Jesus and serve with love.

Squires and Youth Group Trick-or-Treating for Cans!

With the holiday season quickly approaching we will be setting out to collect cans again for Operation Others.  Operation Others provides food assistance to families at Christmas and educates others about these families in our community without enough in order to encourage a preferential option for the poor.   The cans we collect will be taken to Prep to be sorted and boxed to pass out to families in need of a good holiday meal.   On October 29th, from 6:00-7:30 pm, our high school and middle schoolers will be out in the Prarie Lane neighborhood to collect non-perishable canned or dry food items.  If you won’t be home and wish to donate, feel free to leave them on your porch with a note or drop them off at the church in the box labeled OO Trick-or-Treating for Cans.  Thank you in advance for the support!

New Pre-K Program for Religious Ed!

Parents: Our Religious Education Program is going to include an age 4 pre school program beginning this fall. We will be using the God Made Everything series which is a comprehensive early childhood program designed to nurture and enrich the faith and spiritual lives of children. Each developmentally appropriate curriculum is carefully planned so that, at completion, children are ready to continue their faith journey into first grade and beyond. Classes will be combined with our regular class time schedule: 4:30pm – 5:30pm or 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Contact Barb Eastridge at 402 333-8231×1208 for more information.

Registration Reminder

We are in the process of ordering books for the fall and if you haven’t registered your child(ren) please do so as soon as possible.  We attempt to keep costs down and try to order one time as shipping costs are expensive.  As we begin this new year of religious education, please be assured that the catechists in our program are dedicated to helping your children grow in faith and be closer to God.  As parents, you are the primary educators of your children and are their best teachers.  Your children learn the most from the example you set when you pray together and actively participate in mass and the sacraments as a family.  Register by going to the parish website.

MOQ Summer Youth Group

This summer for Youth Group we will be doing the Alpha Youth Film Series.  There are twelve episodes filmed in Vancouver, London, Paris, and Jerusalem, hosted by youth pastors Jason and Ben.  Alpha’s Youth Film Series explores timeless questions about faith, life and God for a new generation of teenagers in an engaging format.  Check out the trailer below!

Starting on Wednesday, May 31, we will be meeting in the Trinity Rooms for dinner at 6:00 pm.  Following dinner, we will be moving to the Future Sacristy to watch the video and discuss.  We will then enjoy desserts and games to end the night by 8:00 pm.

If you are interested in attending Youth Group this summer please contact Jordan at
