Parish History (continued)Starting in the southeast corner of our Church, the windows of Mary Our Queen Parish contain the salvation history events, beginning with Abraham and the promise of a Messiah, continuing on with Mary, Mother of the Church, which is the end window in the northeast corner. The dominate color of the windows is blue, which has been traditionally known as the color of Mary. There is a blue stream-like effect running from window-to-window indicating the flow of salvation history and the continued guidance of it under the power of the Holy Spirit. The green globe always represents the world. The fleur-de-lis, a flower with three petals, always represents Mary. The mysteries of the rosary are represented in the windows except for four of the Sorrowful Mysteries (The Agony, The Crowning, The Scourging, and The Carrying of the Cross). Because of Mary's role in salvation history, and because she is the patroness of our parish, every window has Mary represented, whether directly or indirectly. Since these windows contain the basic teachings of our faith, they should be taught to our children. Stained glass windows are an effective way to teach the faith to our little ones. There is a booklet available at the Parish Center office for a detailed description of each window.
