Parish HistoryEstablished on June 13, 1963, Mary Our Queen Parish started its growing process on ten acres of property at the southeast corner of 119th and Valley Drive. The Church was completed in May of 1965 and the school followed in September of that same year. Due to the lack of space in the classrooms, a second addition to our school was completed by Fall of 1967. In 1971, a gymnasium at the south end of the school was added. A temporary office and the rectory were used until 1985 when the Parish Center was built. The Center takes care of the needs of the Religious Education offices, Ministry offices, and Parish offices, in addition to offices for the Priests and their private living quarters. Monsignor Francis P. Kenny was named founding pastor on June 13, 1963 and saw the accomplishments of the parish as being completed by the "Grace of God, the encouragement of Archbishop Bergan and Archbishop Sheehan, along with the untiring work of the School Sisters of St. Francis and lay faculty, and the dedication of many parishioners who gave their time, talent and financial assistance to the Parish." In June 1994, Mary Our Queen welcomed Father Carl A. Salanitro as pastor, succeeding Monsignor Kenny. The Church was renovated in April 1997, and in 1998 the school added more classrooms. In 2001, construction began on the Monsignor Kenny Center. This construction project added the Trinity Rooms, a family room, additional meeting rooms, school classrooms, library, and computer room.
